would you care to dance?

ever had the chance to master a new dance and bring joy to little brothers and sisters – at the same time? a group of 30 students from secondary schools and jcs had exactly that last tuesday morning.
they were part of care to dance, an initiative proudly organized by the lindy hop ensemble and the ymca of singapore. the students attended a short learning session on the basics of lindy hop and came down to the ymca student care centre at tao nan primary to teach the children the joy of dancing the lindy hop.

and boy, did they have loads of fun!

c’mon, do the chicken with me!

shaking those bon-bons

kick to your left, kick to your right…

leaping for joy

here are some of what the students had to say of the event:

We had great instructors! One of the more enjoyable CIP activities! I’ll definitely wanna participate in more of such activities in future. — Tammy, Hwa Chong Institution

It was an inspirational experience…never to be forgotten! — Nadzah, Coral Secondary

The kids were fantastic, fun, full of energy and all-round absolutely lovable! — Elizabeth, Temasek Junior College

if you’re itching to learn something new before the end of the june hols, do come on down to ymca (orchard) this saturday for a short workshop on the cool and vibrant jazz & lindy hop dance moves. and after that, you get to share your new-found dance skills with children from a children’s centre!
