Waaaah.. you might say that last Saturday (that is, 29th of July) was one heck of a day.  With rock climbers hanging from their rock walls in one hall (more pictures on that later!) and hiphop enthusiasts grooving right next door at the Singapore Expo - it was almost a shame that Youth.SG couldn’t suddenly multiply ten-fold and be right there where all the action was. 

(If you must know.. and you’d better know by now, the crew at Youth.SG was at the Reel Revolution PowWow, which I assure you, was just as happening as what was happening at the Expo.  ReelRev Story coming up soon!)

But anyways, the Expo was ‘home’ to a record breaking event last Saturday called The Big Groove.

Now with a name like that, we can be sure that it definitely wasn’t your fuddy-duddy get-together.  Unite all the groovers of Singapore and you get the largest mass hiphop workshop ever in the history of Singapore! According to Carol, from O School (the primary organizers of this event.  Read our writeup on this really cool dance school and social enterprise startup!), 580 people turned up for the event.  That’s a whole lot of people dancing at one time, believe me.

And it boasted the talents of dance groups Street Soulz, NRA, L.A.D.C, and of course, the O crew.  Under the instruction of established dancers Lionel Araya, Ann and Ryan Tan - we’re pretty sure the place was filled with all the groove you can ever find on a Saturday morning.  Get this, a SATURDAY morning!  It just shows you how much love these people have for dance   And of course, this bodes well for the dance scene in Singapore! -rejoices-
