Virgin experience of a Campus Superstar reporter

Her experience:
The only time I’ve been surrounded by fans was when I went for Sylvester Sim & Taufik’s autograph session at J8 (because we’ve nowhere else to go). And yesterday, I was once again surrounded by fans. BUT, I wasn’t among the crowd like the previous time, because I went there as a junior reporter for Youth.SG this time.
There was no aircon. And having the huge crowd surrounding me, I was really sweating like hell. Not only that, I still have to bear with the deafening screams. At the end of the day, I was really having a headache mainly because of the 7 hours stereo screams and cheers.
This made me realised being a reporter is not easy at all! But still, I don’t know why… somehow I’ve enjoyed this experience.
Maybe I like it when I get to enter the audition area while the fans gotta squeeze themselves at that stuffy place… haha! I’m so sadistic! Just kidding lah! I just like experiences

I thought I was at Jolin Tsai’s concert. But no, the screams were from the fans of all 59 Campus Superstar 2 contestants! It was hot and stuffy there, yet the 3E (Energetic, enthusiastic, ecstatic) fans started screaming and cheering even before the audition began. I was fascinated with the huge crowd and the overwhelming responses of the fans that I didn’t realise the contestants were sitting right behind me.
I had a glance through the contestants, who all appeared to be rather calm, and was taken aback to spot this familiar blue school uniform. It’s my junior! Surprisingly, the 59 were not at all pressurised by their fans, who came fully prepared with posters, nicely-decorated boards, overpowering cheers and even balloons and mini tee. Some of the fans even showered their “superstar” with care, buying food and herbal tea for him/her.
When having their long wait for their turn to be up on stage, other than spending some time interacting with fans, some also chatted with contestants from other schools, while a few seized every minute to practice their song.
When the list of the 20 finalists was passed to the host, the boys started to get nervous and placed their arms over one another. Whereas the girls remained calmer and only united as one (holding hands) when the result was nearing. One by one, the 20 finalists were being called up on stage. There were joyful jumps, surprised faces, humble smiles, and lots of excited hugs among the guys. The defeated ones seemed all right with the result, except for my junior who was near to tears even though she’d expected it. Well, after all they had became friends after these 3 auditions, and it’s the end of the road for them now.
Overall, I must say some did exceptionally well, but most (especially guys) were just some good looking. I mean, how could they even go off tune or forget the lyrics when they’ve been through 2 rounds of auditions?

Meet the Campus Superstar 2 Top 20 contestants on 28 April 2007, 3pm at Bishan Junction 8, Level 3 Open Plaza! Special guests include Teresa Tseng, Renfred Ng, Geraldine See, Chew Xin Huey, Daren Tan, Chen Diya, Nat Tan and Carrie Yeo.
Campus Superstar 2 will be aired on Channel U from 28 May - 20 August 2007, every Monday at 8pm. Results show will be at 11pm. The Grand Finals will be held on 25 August 2007, Saturday, at 7.30pm.
