Stop eating at the 30-Hour Famine Camp

Have you been to the 30 Hour Famine Youth Camp last year? World Vision presents: 30 Hour Famine Youth Camp!

30 hour famine

Look out for the upcoming 30 Hour Famine Youth Camp on the 16-17 June 2007 at the Republic Polytechnic. This camp will see participants going without food for 30 solid hours. Do you think you can survive without food for 30 hours?

During the camp, participants will be putting themselves in the shoes of world leaders and citizens of a foreign country. They will be going through a series of structured scenarios based on conditions and struggles faced by different leaders in developing countries. Youths will have to struggle with providing basic necessities like food/water, healthcare and basic education for “citizens” of their countries. (Sounds interesting!) Lessons learnt will be further enforced through group reflection sessions. Did i mention that Jaymee Ong and Victor Wong are going for the 30 Hour Famine too

They will also be involved in various activities such as the collection of old newspaper and clothing. Camp participants will be deployed to various collection points at some 600 HDB flats in a selected housing estate. Proceeds received from these collections will be used to assist children and families in World Vision. This collections will support children in Crisis programs as well as the drought stricken countries in Africa. On the evening of June 17, the camp will come to a climatic close with everyone counting down to the break of fast and finally enjoying his or her first meal after 30 hours.
