Sparkling Rose spelt as ‘E.X.P.E.N.S.I.V.E”
So I was busy feeding my fishes on Fishville last afternoon and Mr. Mail-man came, armed with a pink Sony Ericsson paper bag and a white clip-board.The super cute and chic Dolce & Gabbana (D&G) Jalou by Sony Ericsson has finally arrived at the Youth.SG office. *we’re thinking of themes for the office btw*
Packaged in a pink paperback box, the first thing you would notice when you open the box is the 84 grams of intimidation they call the Jalou. Most noticeable about the clamshell’s beauty is the reflective plastic clam exterior, armed with a 3.2 Megapixel camera. Looking at the specifications, I expected much more from the camera whilst the midst of the megapixel race.
After removing the phone, under it holds the charger set, earphone cables which are totally awesome, gold detailed for the ultimate fashion statement. Best of all, all these are packaged beautifully in Dolce & Gabbana sparkling rose satin pouches.
The clamshell mobile phone, features a 24k Gold plated keypad which feels great just looking at it and even more for texting and dialling.
The usability of the phone displays the trademark SonyEricsson layout and ease of use. With functions like GoogleMaps (Global-Positioning software) and a Facebook application, it is not difficult to say that this is the perfect phone for the girl-on-the-go.
The phone however lacks the technological edge that runs common in almost all of the mobile phones available today such as WiFi, full-web-browsing and a high-megapixel camera. On the Brightside, it has managed to bring out its very fashionable side surprisingly well.
The internal display screen doubles-up as a mirror which really is a double-edge sword as it gets greasy very easily after a call. It also is rather small, so squinting for a clearer picture is common, accelerometer orientations are only portrait and counter-clockwise landscape.
Going at $988 without a contract, this sparkly little thing seems to bite-off quite a bit more than it can chew. However, if you are someone who uses a mobile phone for its primitive purposes of calling and texting and provided that you have a lot of spare change, this phone would be your perfect fashion statement.
Available at Dolce and Gabbana ION Orchard and at selected Singtel Exclusive Retailers from the December 12 2009.
