Judgement Day 5: Meet Webmaster Alvin
As mentioned, we will be posting up the scores for the top 20 blog entries from our judges on a daily basis. Today, the last scorings done by Yours Truly, the friendly webmaster at Youth.SG will be revealed. It has been a long and ardrous journey for all… whether you are one of the participating bloggers or someone who have been involved in this blogging festival in one way or another.
The first Round started in December 2006 - and it's now May 2007 - a good 5 months!
I am indeed, happy to say that the quality of the blog entries keep getting better and better with each Rounds, cumulating to the current Top 20 we have now.
Anyway, here's my comments on judging for the top 20:
"A good variety indeed - there are 9 "old-timers" who were our bi-weekly top bloggers before and 11 fresh new faces. The age group is diverse… ranging from your secondary school students like Mr Otaku and Joyce Lee to the "older youths" like Thegreatsze and Uncle Sha.
In conventional medium-based competition (eg. essay-writing, video, singing, drawing competitions, etc), contestants will most likely be segregated by age group or other form of demographics to compete. However, this is not done so for our Blogging Festival as I believe that the sporadic and random nature of blogging will not be reflected if we segregate the contestants into categories.
To me, blogging is about expression - expressing one's opinion; beliefs; viewpoints; or even just cam-whoring or showcasing of your own self-created videos or artworks. And expression are all equals regardless of your age, sex, race or any other demographic modifiers. It is what constitutes a blogger as an individual - a voice, strong and clear that screams out "I am the one and only XXX".
Hence when judging - EXPRESSION is the key thing I was looking out for in the blog entries. I was particularly impressed by four bloggers who conveyed a strong sense of their identities in their blog entries - Uncle Sha, Soupcanfairy, Yuting and Juni.
For the other 16, great entries too. It is a great achievement to make it to the top 20, however, there can only be one grand winner. Since all the scorings are announced and cast in stone… let's see if the public voting make a difference.

Thanks to all judges. Everyone’s scored around the same range, but only 1 is over 90.

Nascar Racing
Most stock car races follow standard NASCAR qualifying to set their field of cars, but when you’re the richest prize and biggest fame race like the Daytona 500, you can do things your own way…
