In the second last installment of our feature on the local bands playing at Baybeats this year, Youth.SG would like you to have the pleasure of meeting The Fire Fight. Remember, if you want to win goodies when you attend Baybeats this year, keep on reading the articles!
So who's who in the Fire Fight?
1. Joshua Tan, 22
2. Jon Leong, 21
3. Joshua "Barker" Tan, 21
4. Iain Tham, 22
And they are all national servicemen.
Why did you guys come up with the name ' The Fire Fight' for the band?
The Fire Fight represents the dynamic constance in life. An action-reaction, cause and effect. Fight represents the need for change and Fire is the heart behind the motivation.
How did the band come together?
We formed after the defunct of Josh's previous indie act One Authority. Josh and Iain were already musically involved then, through the Sonic Edge and, and we decided to rope in Josh Barker and Jon due to their similiar passion for music. We had already been friends prior to the band and The Fire Fight was the result of our friendship and passion.
Where can we catch the Fire Fight in practice?
We usually jam at homeground the WMUM shop or Backbeat Studios at Hong Kong Street.
Do you have loving support of your friends and families?
Music is like being in a committed relationship with ups and downs. It's a continual process that took quite some time of understanding and acceptance before our families gave us their support. Our friends have always been supportive.
Can the Fire Fight see themselves living off their music in the future?
Honestly, this is the passion we are realising. We're working really hard to make this band our occupation.
What's it like to be part of such a big event like Baybeats?
"I feel good I do what I would now!" *Laughs* It's been a fun experience.
What would you hope to achieve now that you've been introduced at Baybeats?
We're going to keep doing what we do best and spread the music as far as we can reach. Somewhere, somehow we believe that our music and friendship will change things for the better.
So tell us, why should we pay the Fire Fight any attention?
If you like to dance and the sound of happy music, come join us!
